A Grateful Warmth on Chap Goh Meh

Chap Goh Meh - For most people, the first things comes into mind was the occasion of throwing tangerines i guessed. As for Chinese, there's a legend saying that there's a chance for those unmarried women throwing tangerines into the sea can get a good husband when their tangerine is picked up by that particular person. It is also called the Chinese Valentine's Day. Chap Goh Meh is actually represents the last day of Chinese New Year as well. For me, it's not about throwing tangerine and getting a good husband.  If I had the chance, I guessed I would love to spend time dining together with my family, especially eating mom's home cook food. At first, I was feeling a bit out of the mood as I'm feeling a little lonely here. Though it is such entertaining in the city, with all the events and parties all around, but I'm still feeling empty. People seems attached, but I'm just home alone here. And I don't feel a sense of belonging here. Felt so much lonely in such a cold windy night, furthermore the drizzling makes me felt even colder. Suddenly makes me missing home so much.
Fortunately I got a call from Fat Babe, he's gonna bring me out for a meal. So off we go, to the Harbour Steamboat Restaurant in Sri Petaling. I was so thankful coz he is here with me tonight, enjoying the simple yet delicious steamboat dinner. For this cold and rainy night, I felt so much warm having the steamboat, but even warmer with him around. For tonight, he takes away all my anxiety and loneliness in me. I'm thankful that I had him around. :)

♥ Lovely Valentine's ♥

A fine valentine's dining is always expensive. The good part is we managed to get some pics home, after spending so much on this dinner, which nearly blew his pocket. :)

❤ Valentine's Dinner @ Senja Saujana

A last minute option turns out unexpectedly magnificent. Lucky that he agreed in choosing this place instead of The Omega, that he initially planned to go. The ambience was superb, the surroundings are well decorated. We're actually able to dine outside on the wooden platform with the spectacular night view of a lake, but we chose to sit inside since we reserved indoor at the first place, and it's quite a bit of a windy night as well. With all the ❤ -shaped valentine's sign hanging around the ceilings make this dining fill with romantic atmosphere. I was certain that all the couples there enjoyed themselves. We had a 3-piece jazz band entertaining us during our meal. Too bad we sat too close to that, seems a lil' too loud for us to talk to each other... However the petite vocalist managed to catch our attention as she had quite a very nice and strong voice.
As for food, everyone here had the same valentine's meals, as all ala carte menu is not available for tonight, they only serve the special Italian Valentine's menu by Chef Giovanni's. (Sources are here)

We had the Salmon Carpaccio on rucola leaves for a starter. Hmm, I felt funny myself when i guessed i read his thought that he would be thinking 'how very small portion it is', but anyhow, the taste was very good.
Next was the Tomato soup with the black truffle serve like a cocktail. Okay, it's not just an ordinary tomato soup, it is simply feel light yet delicious. The way it was uniquely presented already won some points, as  it made me feel like I'm gonna get my special cocktail of the day. :) Erm... Just imagining a bit, we actually ordered red wine for both. Had a couples of sip while enjoying the sentimental jazz and people watching.
As for it's main course, both of us chose the Rack of lamb instead of the fillet of cod fish, I totally like it! Especially the mustard crust. I remembered he was saying that it tasted a bit like Indian spices in it. *GRINNING*
I should bring him to try out more of the western cuisine once in a while i think, coz he is better in identifying the ingredient than me. I only know how to eat. Haha.
We waited quite a while for the Watermelon & Lime sorbet to be served. I can see he's gluttonous expression when he took it in a big gulp. Of course, it had been special to us, and we both might have love it coz we don't get the chance to get a watermelon taste sorbet that much. Last but not least, the dessert - Banana split with Love! We both found that it was truly amazing! I really fall in love with it as soon as i tasted it. I wondered how the Chef did this, but its totally different from the one we usual had. It was so scrumptious till it ended our meal with a lovely and wonderful feeling. And we got ourselves a gift too, a handmade chocolate pralines for him and a sweet rose for me.
For tonight, I have to admit that I'm pleased, even though he did not managed to book by his own, I'm still thankful that he's willing to bring me here. Thanks Babe!

Saturday Night @ Padi House

Seems that a lot of people like to hang out here for yum cha ever since the row of shophouses here are completed and opened for business. Even the parking are not easy to get. A little crowded, but still acceptable as of it spacious surroundings. The setting is cool and comfy.  The design is simple yet contemporary. That’s why they managed a good business here I think. :) The food on the menu carries more of the fusions. The pastas, western grilled, fried noodles, rice as well as desserts. We tried the Mexican beef tacos and also the beef pasta (Cincinnati Fine Way) in our 1st visit. Not bad for a start, but the cappuccino I ordered tasted badly. Not a bit of Starbucks standard. ;p
At first, I actually gave him a silent treatment as we quarrelled earlier, (I can’t actually remember the reason) but after spending time snapping some pictures, fb-ing, enjoying the spaghetti and the yucky cappuccino, my moods is getting better. I can't remember who's the one who break the ice first, but who cares? After all, at least finally we managed to enjoy here. Anyway, get angry too much will only makes me get more wrinkles... Haha.

♡ My Starbucks Planner

I finally finishing the stamps and decided to go and get the free 2011 planner. But after visiting 3 Starbucks outlets @ The Gardens & Midvalley, I almost gave up when all of them run out of stocks.
But hey, I thought I should give it a last try and decided to drop by the one in Pearl Point when I'm on my way back home.
Guess what? After supporting them for so long, so hurray! I finally got it! =D

Thai-licious @ Rak Thai

Woohoo...  Affordable Thai food for everyone!
Located @ Lower ground floor, The Gardens, Midvalley. It's simply make me feel like having home-cooked Thai meal for sure. This time for my dinner, We chose to sit at the rattan sofas instead of those hard wooden chairs. Hoho, I finally ordered the Tom Yum Koong and rice. As for my friends, they ordered Thai seafood fried rice and glutinous mango rice served with chicken and som-tum. Of course, I tried theirs as well. The fried rice is just enough spicy, which is also sweet and tasty. The glutinous rice is somewhat special, wrapped in a banana leaves which somewhat brings out the aromas of rice. It also served with the som-tum (Thai papaya salad) as appetizer, I've eaten most out of it. :p As for the Tom Yum, it is quite different from the normal thicky orangy color, this one seems clear. But it did not disappoint me though. It has strong taste of kaffir lime leaves and lemongrass on the soup paste. The mixture of sour & spicy of Tom Yum is just good enough for me! Oh, btw, they offered a Pandan water for RM1 if u need to quench the spiciness! ^o^
This restaurant is just cozy enough to enjoy a nice dinner while shopping at the Gardens or Midvalley. It also selling Thai products such as instant noodles, variety Thai-made chili paste and sauces. I'm sure to come by again to try on some other meals next time!

Fun Ok Cafe - Eating Out or @ Home???

Thanks to my hometown friends who brought me here. Heard of this cafe long ago but never bothered to try out. I didn't even notice it when i happened to pass by Connaught, Cheras. As it was located in 2nd floor and the signage doesn't look attractive either. With a name like that actually sounded more like a bar or pub to me. :) However, [Fun Ok] (返屋企) actually means Go Home in Cantonese.
They offered a good mix of western and eastern food here. But I don't think i would write much about the food here, as i didn't try out much of it and to me it's just antoher typical cafe's these day. However, they really are creative in putting the names of food it the menu. They have names likes 'Waiting for U' or 'Goodbye My love' for their yogurt drink, and they also have funny names for their snacks. All these prices are somewhat affordable, but don't get me wrong, it's not cheap.
The concept of the decor which interest me most. The creative vintage design using all furniture or stuff at home is what they offered best. You can find every table and seats are different. They used washing machines, beds, half-cut barrels, toilet seats as tables and chairs. They have funny clock, unusable lights bulb ditch together making it into a creative light. They have penguin fridge which stuff toys but not food, library corner for you to read... etc.  And finally they have pajamas-dress up waiter to serve you. Just treat yourself at home. Haha.
Well, it's actually decorated uniquely like what most in Taiwan did. It's more towards a Chinese-like surrounding for me, but it's pork-free. I think this place is much suitable for teenage rather than working professionals. Their customers mostly youngster. Anyway, It is a great one-off visit to snap some pics and post it up coz got free-wifi, but not a repeated visit though.

The ratings? I'll give a 5/10 coz nothing much special about the food.

Saturday Night Chill Out @Bjorn

Most of the time, Fat Babe & I do not have particular destination in mind when eating out. He is not a very choosy type when it comes food. As long as it's not going to blow his pocket, he's still willing to try on whichever place I can think of. But I always have difficulties in choosing since I knows his likeness of meals. That's why as usual, he'll drive around in one area and we'll just randomly choose whichever that caught our sight.
Well, we headed to Taman Desa and after a 'few' turns =P, and we finally decided to choose this Bjorn cafe down the corner.

A mix of east and west cuisine they offered. So, he tried the Rendang Rice Set and I ordered the Grilled Lamb Rack (My Fav!) instead. The surrounding is not noisy as i thought. They have a bar and pool table where we can chill out watching football on the projector or just having a drink or two. They have satay corner that we eventually tried it out as well.

I was bold enough to ask for their black pepper sauce as well to try out with my grilled lamb (heh, luckily they didn't charge extra), but I still like the mint sauce better. I'm quite happy with their service, since they do have staff who actually cared to ask you whether the food is okay. And further more, one of them turn to us and offered us a free invitation to their buffet dinner next weekend. Attached with invitation are those promo coupons that you can use to visit their Beauty, Spa and Massage Centre. They even attached one RM200 voucher inside for u to use for the beauty package within that 2 days. (We've got lucky!) Though I understand that it's just one of their marketing strategy. It just doesn't matter, I'm happy indeed.
And now I know (or noticed)... Upstairs they have all-in-1 solution beauty centre and academy. They are all under one roof named Wisma Bjorn.

After the meal, we drank a little beer, hanging around playing pool as the night goes by. It's really a better place for us to hang out compared to the noisy bar and pub. As it open air, so you don't smell ciggies on your shirt when you got back! :)

Girls Night Out @ Sky Bar

We decided to go up since we're are already at Trader's.
Awesome place for a hang out, with great ambience and splendid night view of KL. There's a pool in the middle, but I wonder is it okay for me to jump in? *GRIN
They offered a lot type of beverages, from juices to mocktails, beers to liquors and various wine and cocktails. They also have few snacks menu displayed on the table. But the point is - it's really costly and we'd just finished our buffet dinner. So, we'd just ordered a bottle of wine instead, coz we do not intend to stay long anyway. (The Actual fact is: Our host did not wanna sponsor us anymore. (duh!) =D But hey, we managed to pose here and there and get a snap of the Twin Tower night view!
Haha, I indeed had a great time here.
Hey ladies, thanks to all on a such a wonderful night!

Annual Dinner @ Gobo Chit Chat

I was delighted to be invited over a dinner with SQV, even though i didn't support much on the business this year. Haha, thanks to our boss here who is kind enough to treat me a wonderful meal.
It's my first time here. It has spacious surrounding with high ceilings & modern contemporary decor, much of a relaxed ambience which certainly suitable for either at leisure or on a corporate functions. I'm a bit disappointed when Rabbitgurl, my previous work partner was unable to attend this, she's fun and jovial, which will brightens one's day! And most importantly, she's quite a keh-po-chi i could say, who always has stories to tell. :) Anyhow, It always seems enjoyable to hang out with all of the associates as we do have a lot to gossip. We have Madam Curry, Miss SQV - Puiyin, Petite Zura, Ou Yui and Pretty Shanie in da house... The others - I don't know, and don't really bother to know. :) Oh, of course not forgetting the bosses. (who pays the bill) So, even most the food is not that delicious, but we all did had a great time there.
I did try out most of the stuff there bit by bit. However, most of the dishes did not taste as delicious as it looks. Overall this buffet dinner is not about enjoying the food, but the time spent together as a team. Yet, I'm still glad to share this coz it's free! LOL

The sushi roll counter does not really impressed me, but sashimi does. Especially prawn & salmon!

We were either too busy gossiping or eating or snaping each other, but luckily there are still a few  photos i managed to capture...
Overall rating: 4/10 (they still have rooms to improved on their food)

Another sleepless nite...

If there any chance that i could just hit the bed and doze off right away, i think it will be the day that i might be in real relaxation! Instead of tossing and turning and feeling so restless every time, there's nothing better to do than to stick around to my bad routine... Fb-ing with addictive Zynga Games. (That's why they succeeded dominating the others) This certainly made me realized that social media is really a success these days. From search engines, online marketing, web advertising, forums, social networking, etc. Seeing people glued to their PC instead of spending time on the idiot box signified the new era. Well, I should be wondering, who created the web again?

Dinner @ Rest Desa Steamboat

It's dinner again. Well, in such a remote place, looks like this is one of the restaurant that stands out to me, since it is much occupied. :) The steakhouse next door also seems crowded, yet it didn't appeal to me much, so eventually I pick the steamboat instead. There's a variety of Chinese dishes to order apart from steamboat actually. But I'll try that later.
The food is not so bad, but RM29 is not cheap for a price for 2, coz there's not much of a fresh meat there, a lot u can see is meatballs. There's not even pork, we have to get a side order for that! Pork is just my fav when it comes to steamboat. Arghhh...
But what the heck, it considered the nearest to the cinema already! Coz we were here for a movie nearby after dinner @ MBO!

It's just another usual night out with him again. But I'm glad though, coz after the dinner, I do get to watch the movie I wanted. :) However, [The Tourist] is not a thriller as I thought, more like a romance drama actually. The plot is least interesting to me, but I did enjoyed watching the scene in Venice. Btw, what can I say... Most people are there to watch Angelina Jolie & Johnny Depp, who really cares much about how's the movie anyway? :)

Just in case u are in that area, do try out the seafood & the chinese dishes there and let me know how is it!
